Kerikeri is ideally suited as a base from which to explore the Bay of Islands and the whole of the Far North. Heron Hill is just five minutes drive from the vibrant Kerikeri Village with it’s abundance of cafes, restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. CULTURE AND HERITAGE in Kerikeri The Cradle of the Nation
Kerikeri is home to New Zealand”s oldest stone building the Stone Store(1836) located at the edge of the Kerikeri Basin. Also in this historic area are Kerikeri Mission house, St James Church and Kororipo Pa (an early Maori settlement).

WATER ACTIVITIES
Just a 20 minute drive takes you to Paihia the launch pad for the beautiful Bay of Islands. From here you can board a boat to go deep sea fishing, swim with Dolphins, scuba dive or just relax on the beach or swim in one of the many secluded bays. Kerikeri also has some beautiful beaches in the vicinity.

NATURE AND ECO TOURISM
Mighty Kauri forests once covered the Far North and today there are still a few Kauri Reserves. The Puketi Forest is a 20 minute drive from Kerikeri and it is a truly unique experience to walk through. Also near to Kerikeri are many nature trails, picture perfect bays and scenic attractions including Rainbow Falls, Marsden’s Cross (site of the first church service celebrated in New Zealand). Matauri Bay, the site of the Greenpeace vessel the Rainbow Warrior now a dive site.
